Customs Service: (Activeness is open to GTQG members only):

The purpose of the Community Service of the Aureate Triangle Quilt Guild is to assist in the needs of the customs. Nosotros have donated quilts to several charitable organizations in our community also as to individuals who might take lost their homes due to fire. Our main objective recently has been to make and distribute quilts to the severely injured service men and women at the Brooks Medical Heart in San Antonio, Texas. The participation past the guild members has been remarkable. Nosotros use donated cloth which primarily comes from our lodge members. The order funds our other needs such as batting and sewing notions that we might demand. We cut and organize kits for quilt tops which we bring to the order meetings and they are always taken by the guild members and usually brought back to the adjacent meeting. We quilt the smaller quilts on our sew days simply have had the larger ones quilted by members with long arm machines. This has been an ongoing projection for several years. We did not start keeping records on the donated quilts until 1999.

In improver to making quilts, we accept made items to sell in the boutique at our bi-annual quilt show, made doll dresses for the mothers shopping for Christmas at the United Board of Missions. We sold quilts at the "Quilts for Sale" booth at the quilt bear witness and made cash donations to CASA, United Board of Missions and Some other Place. Considering we were using both the Port Neches and Nederland libraries for a period of time at no charge, we donated $100 to each of them as payment for utilise of their facility. We also donated a patriotic quilt to the Port Neches Library.

2012 – December Year End Written report

We proceed to make and distribute quilts either made or completed by the Customs Service Group. Some of these quilts were kits brought to the guild meetings, put together by members, and then completed past the CS Group. Our numbers really do non reflect the quilts that were completed in 2012 because we still take those quilts on manus, ready to go to San Antonio to the soldiers. The bodily number delivered to the Wounded Warriors was fourteen. Nosotros sold iv at the quilt show for a total of $250, 100% of the $250 going back to the guild. 9 were delivered to CASA in Beaumont, 3 went to Boys Oasis and we gave one large quilt to a couple who had lost everything in a burn down. We will exist sending a big number to the Wounded Warriors as soon as we have someone going there. It will exist hard to determine which were made in 2012 and those made in 2013 but the numbers will reflect what our guild has done for Community Service. Quilting is often done by Geraldine Lee to whom we give special thank you. We could not exercise what we do without the help of our proficient friends at the Gilded Triangle Quilt Order. We have had some washed by Gayle Hurley and Dot Collins has quilted some which will be reported in this year'southward report.

2011 – DecYear End Report

The Customs Service group continues to brand and distribute quilts. Our recipients in this year, 2011, were the Wounded Warriors at the Brooks Medical Center in San Antonio and CASA in Beaumont. The quilts that are more juvenile are given to CASA and for that arrangement, xi quilts were donated. The remainder of the quilts went to the Wounded Warriors, that number being 37. We have many completed tops ready to be quilted. We take had a very favorable response from our members in completing these quilts from kits that we prepare and bring to order meetings. Our members take these kits, put them together and return them to us. We then find a dorsum for them, put the batting with the quilt and we either pin and quilt the quilt or they can exist taken by a long arm quilter, quilted and returned to us for a binding. Equally you tin can run into, quite a chip of work and arrangement goes into the completion of a quilt. Not to be forgotten is Marion Broussard, Patsy's mother-in-law, who has completed more kits than we tin can count. Also, our long-arm quilter who has donated her skill is Nikki Brackin. We are now in the process of completing quilts to sell at the quilt testify in February. They will be reasonably priced with the proceeds going back to the guild to put in the general fund. Those non sold will exist sent to the soldiers. These quilts are all fabricated from donated textile with the lodge purchasing our batting, thread and other quilting supplies as needed. Nosotros hope that with the sale of some quilts, nosotros will be able to requite back to the club enough to defray the cost of these supplies.
